The Waiting Game.

All along, I've been saying "I hope my baby isn't a Halloween baby." Well you know what? I am so uncomfortable right now that I wouldn't care if she was born on Halloween, or as my Mom-in-Law says a 'spook baby.' Seriously. For the past week I have been sleeping a couple of hours then up to pee, three more hours then up to switch positions and try to fall asleep again, etc... An entire week of less than a couple of hours of sleep at a time and I'm exhausted! I know its my body's way of getting me prepared for what I'll experience with the baby, but man its hard. Thank goodness my little girl is worth every ache and pain and discomfort. :) And not to mention Kort has to go through it all too, lol. Every time I get up or switch positions he thinks I'm having contractions or am going into labor and is asking me if I'm okay, how I'm sleeping, rubs my back, or whatever I need. It's so cute and honestly, very much appreciated because it makes me feel better remembering I'm not alone in this. I love my hubby!

On a different note, I found a table on CraigsList that I want, but its a little out of my budget by $50. I want to call and make an offer on it, but is asking $50 less really lowballing them? I'm just not sure. I think its worth a shot and if they feel insulted by it, the worse that they'll do is say no and its off hunting for a different table again. With all the new house expenses, and there have been a lot, we just don't want to purchase a brand new table especially since we hardly use it except for the holidays or when we have company over for dinner. I guess now that we have our own home, we can start inviting our friends/family over more often and it will actually get used. Hmmmmmm...

Stubborn Little Girl.

Frustration is setting in...For so long Lexi was so impatient and kept trying to come out early. She sent me into pre-term labor at six months and then had me on bed/pelvic rest forever. I took my maternity leave early to rest up and get her healthy and now, she won't come. She was due yesterday and she still isn't here. They've scraped my membranes and now I just have to wait until next week. If she doesn't come we'll try to induce. Grrrrrr. I'm tired of being pregnant! I love my baby girl and I want her here with me so I can cuddle with her and love on her, not to mention sleep comfortably only if its for an hour at a time!

Another Doctor's Visit.

So I kind of freaked out this morning. My little girl moves around like crazy it seems like ALL the time! She's so active. Last night I didn't feel her move once. I thought I felt a tiny kick, but nothing else. This morning after breakfast, I laid down and didn't feel her still. I called my dr's office and they said to drink a tall, cold glass of apple juice and lay down for an hour and count her movements. There should be 10. I felt no movements but my stomach tightened and then released four times. That was it. So I called back and they said to go to Labor and Delivery to be evaulated and make sure she's okay and not in distress. Well, true to form, the word distress got me distressed and I started thinking the worse and before you know it, I'm having a major panick attack. What if she's not breathing? What if somethings wrong and I waited until now to call? You get the picture.

Turns out she is absolutely fine. She's just topping the scales at 8 1/2 lbs and she's tightly cushioned in amniotic fluid pretty low in my tummy, so I couldn't feel her. When they hooked me up to the machines I could hear her moving around and swooshing in my tummy, but I still couldn't feel her. The nurse said to just give it a little time, drink a can of cold Pepsi once a day and lie down for an hour. That should make me feel her because the caffeine and sugar will get her riled up. If I don't feel her and I've done that, go back to L&D. I felt kind of bad going when everything turned out to be fine, but what a relief knowing that I was just over reacting and she is still healthy and snug inside. Thank goodness for amazing nurses who know just how to make you feel like your a good parent for noticing instead of a nuisance "first time mom." :) I love my Dr's office and the staff at St. Luke's.

Our New Home.

We've finally move in to our new home! We closed on Friday and the bank gave us a 32" LCD flatscreen, which Kort thought was the neatest thing. I'm telling you, we had an amazing experience buying our first home. Our realtor, Mary Reich, was just amazing. I don't have a single complaint, she worked so hard to get us in the house we wanted at an incredible price. I do have to say, I didn't like workimg with CBH Homes, they didn't meet a single deadline and were awful at follow through. They missed their appointment yesterday to fix my concrete and didn't call or anything. As of now, I'm still waiting for a response. But all in all, Idaho Central Credit Union and Mary were outstanding, and now my baby's room is almost ready for her arrival. Yay!

Baby...Life...Update

I've been out on maternity leave from school since the first week of September and it seems like I've not had a single day to rest! Well, I do get to sleep in some, but it makes up for the nights of tossing and turning and being uncomfortable and not being able to sleep. I do take naps but only when my nephews are taking theirs otherwise its work, work, work. No I don't work right now, but it feels like I am. Let me explain...

My sister threw me two amazing baby showers and they were both towards the end of September. One was here in Boise for my friends and Kort's side of the family and the other was a week later in St. Anthony for my side of the family that wouldn't be able to make it up here. Let me tell you, my sister went all out and made the decorations so stinkin' adorable and there was so much food and fun! I had a blast and the presents that we received are just awesome. Alexis won't have to worry about clothes for a while, now I just have to stock up on diapers. Yucky - guess I'll have to get used to it. My sister in law asked Kort some questions and videotaped his responses to see if I could guess how he would answer. It was such a beautiful video and hilarious too - of course, its Kort! I got 4 out of 7 right. Wooohooo! Better than my bridal shower...two out of ten right...ouch, lol. Just getting prepared for the showers was exhausting. My sister included me in all the decisions, we made handmade invitations that were so cute and we spent a lot of time picking stuff out and hanging out. It was a lot of fun and totally worth the exhaustion and at times, pain, from being on my feet too long.

All this time, Kort and I have been staying with his sister Tina and she's been so amazing. We had an issue with our previous apartment, paid a butt load of money and got out of there. Tina and her husband let us stay with them for a few months until our little one is born. They are so wonderful especially because its tight living quarters and they never complain about us taking up space and are so nice to let us save money while we're here. Well, we knew it was tight and since we were able to save up some money, we decided to look for a place sooner rather than later. We heard about the tax credit for new homebuyers and decided to look into a new home. So on top of maternity leave and baby showers and Kort working, we set out to look for a house. We got in contact with an amazing realtor and she has been so great. We found a beautiful house with a huge yard for Buddy out in Caldwell just off the interstate that we love. Long story short, we put in an offer and are closing on Friday! We are moving over the weekend, but thank goodness, this will be our last move for a long time! So after looking at houses, finding the one, putting in an offer, getting the house, now about to move in, weekly doctors visits, baby classes and just trying to get stuff done while still visiting family once a week, Kort and I are drained. Another great thing? Kort got a promotion with a nice big raise! YAY!

I have about 2 weeks left in my pregnancy and am super excited about it! I can't wait to have Alexis. She gets hiccups at least four times a week now and moves like crazy. Last doctors appointment, my Nurse Practitioner said that I'm completely ready to have her at any time, there's no more room to grow and she thinks she's actually a little big. I go in this Friday and they're going to check her size and see if I've dilated any further than 2cm. Estimated weight? 8lbs! Yikes! Kort and I and the rest of our families are just thrilled for her arrival and are counting down the days. I'm glad we're getting moved in to our house this week so I can set up her room before she gets here. It's going to be mainly pink and purple pastel colors with splashes of yellow, green, and blue pastels.

So that about sums everything up for us. I'm sure I left out a bunch of stuff, but for now, I think that should get you up to speed and hopefully I can keep up better from now on...hahahahaha...

Baby Shower!

My sister threw me an amazing baby shower this weekend! We took tons of pictures and video for Lexi to see. The games were fun and the food was fantastic. All of the gifts were so wonderful and very much appreciated. I was so happy so many people could join us! Only five more weeks and she'll be here! Yay!

Wonderful Times!

It's been awhile and there's so much going on. I'll have to try to be more active in keeping up our blog. We have had another doctors appointment and the baby is doing so well. I think a little better than well, Baby's moving around so much in my tummy, the doctor had a hard time finding the heartbeat! We had to go into the big ultrasound room and look that way. We got to see the Baby's spine and hear the heartbeat. And the doctor got to see why I'm always so sick - the Baby wouldn't stop moving the entire time. She said she has never seen such an active baby even at our first ultrasound. It's crazy how much I love this little one even though it punishes me daily :) I have a lot of pictures and videos but still haven't uploaded them yet!

My first Mother's Day was amazing. I wasn't able to spend time with my Mom but we went to Kort's Moms' house and had a real nice time. Then for dinner Kort, Matt and me were headed to get some Mongolian food when my stomach started to hurt. It was these random aches that felt like spikes or pinches all over my stomach. For about 5 minutes I just thought it was cramping but then I put my hand on my stomach and I felt the bump bumps and it was the Baby! I was so excited. For another 20 minutes my little one continued to bump bump me and Kort and Matt were able to feel the little kicks. It was the weirdest feeling. I thought it was too soon to be feeling those kicks but my doctor said that considering how she's seen how much the baby moves and how strong Baby's getting, she isn't too surprised. I have a doctors appointment the first week of June so that should be fun to see the progress again. Yay!

School is getting a bit more fun. I still have my issues with people, but what else is new?! I am loving what I do and it just makes it interesting having to run to the restroom in the middle of a color application, lol. I can't wait to be finished but with my leave after the baby is born, I'm not going to finish until early next year. Geez. I've got to say, I am trying to be more open about enjoying classes and just being more tolerant. But of course, I'm still working on trying to shutup and not say what I think as much. It gets me into trouble and sometimes hurts peoples feelings when that's not my intention. My brain to mouth filter is working overtime these days. But all in all, a great month so far and I've got to spend this weekend with my parents and family and last weekend with Kort's family so it's been wonderful. And I do have to say, Congrats to my big bro Omar for graduating Magna Cum Laude with his Bachelors of Science in Electrical Engineering! WoooooooHooooooo! And to my little bro who graduates in one week : ) Man I'm getting old...
