Oh Happy Day - Oh Sad Day.

Just as things are going great for a few days/weeks something always has to balance out the cycle and give me something to gripe about.  Alexis's fever is gone, but I'm having trouble getting her to take her bottle or eat her food.  She'll eat it if she's really hungry but then refuses to take it the minute she has had a few bites or a couple sips.  I talked to my doctor and he said to keep offering her foods, she may be going through a stage of rebellion.  As long as she has plenty of dirty/wet diapers a day and doesn't seem to be lethargic with any noticeable changes then she's fine.  It is really frustrating to go from nursing to bottle feeding and have her pull on my shirt as she pushes the bottle away.  I hope this stage gets better.

I finally was able to reorganize my ENTIRE house! It feels so wonderful to walk in to a clean house no matter which part of it I'm in.  I guess the one area that still needs some attention is the pantry, but that gets cleaned out weekly and for some reason it always gets destroyed, lol.  I also realized that at the end of this month I'll have been at my job for 3 months :) yay! I still love it and enjoy going to work.  I have a little better of an understanding how to do things that in the past scared me a bit.  It's great to know that I can tackle these things without the previous fear that I am going to screw it up.  I have a lot more to learn but I feel so much more comfortable with myself.  It's a wonderful feeling

I actually got to spend some time with my sister this weekend which was great! And I got to spend time with Sarah last weekend too.  I've been trying to balance out family, work, playtime, me time, and every other time! It is tough work.  I'm not ready for my niece to leave our home and me have to start looking for daycare.  I think I still have a few months, so I'm just going to relax until then.

Happy days + sad days = balanced life.....right?

Fever.

Today has been a crazy day.  This morning I woke up feeling great and refreshed.  I had a day off yesterday which was amazing! I got a facial today at work and it was so wonderful.  I thought i had a client at 4pm but she rescheduled so I unexpectedly had the rest of the day to myself.  I made all these elaborate plans:

1). Go to Downtown Boise and see Allison's newborn baby
2). Go to the Boise Mall (Forever 21) and find some fashionable clothing to wear for the fall season.
3). Come home, clean up the kitchen and living room some more, then relax and watch a football game.
4). Go to bed early and snuggle with Alexis and Daddy.

Needless to say by the topic of this blog entry...it didn't go as planned.  I did go see my friends newborn baby for about fifteen minutes then we took off to the mall.  As we're getting there the car decides to stop and not turn back on...in the middle of the mall parking lot! Luckily a few minutes later it turned back on, we parked and headed inside for some air conditioned goodness.  Well, when we woke up this morning Alexis was more than fine, but I'm not sure if it was just the brief visit to the hospital or the excessively hot temperature outside, but she was getting a little warm while we were at the mall.  She got diarrhea and so I took off her clothes, wiped her with a lukewarm towel and gave her some water.  We shopped for all of fifteen minutes then we were back in the car and ready to go home.  She just wasn't feeling well and you know when you have a baby who isn't fussing but looks miserable, somethings not right.  In the car, I take all of her clothes off and set the air-conditioning to a nice temperature for her and head home.  We get home and she is burning up! I took her temp under her arm and it was reading 100.4 degrees and she feels like she's on fire.  Literally. I have never felt her so hot even when she had her previous and only fever a few months ago.  I made sure she was getting liquids, she was still peeing ok, went potty again (messy!) and we alternated giving her water and formula.  It is 10:30pm and she's finally in bed, resting comfortably as far as I can tell.  She's been getting some Ibuprofen to help the fever.  I hope by morning she's all better and it was just a mild case of whatever it may be.

Sad day for Mommy.  You feel so helpless when you're baby doll is sick and there's nothing you can do to make her feel better other than rub her back and soothe her.  I know I have a lot more in store for me, but this was too sad.  I thought I did a good job of keeping her safe and mostly free of illness but then something like this happens and it makes me wish I would've just stayed home and enjoyed the day here with her.  *Sigh*

Alexis's First Oreo, haha!

As we're watching the first Patriots game of the season (on TV at least) we were having nachos, tacos and beers...and Alexis was being pretty good after her nap which was great, so I thought.  She started to fuss a little and I thought "I'll give her an Oreo cookie."

This was bad idea #1. She got it all over herself! She loved every piece of it though.  It was the cutest thing to watch her eat it, lol.  Then bad idea #2 came along. I decided to take it away and clean her up before she got it on our freshly cleaned carpet even more.

She screamed and was upset, but then we put her on the floor and she had so much energy she was crawling everywhere, getting up on furniture, crawling under Dad's recliner, talking like crazy! :) This was a long, beautiful, crazy night! Lesson learned: don't give your 9 month old a cookie at 7pm and expect her to go to bed at 8pm, haha!

No More Nursing.

So it's kind of a sad week in the fact that my milk supply has almost completely dried up.  I am officially no longer nursing my baby girl.  With work and life and not being with her enough to feed her often, I've dried up.  So I've substituted our Mommy and Alexis nursing time with Mommy and Alexis reading time.  I tell her stories and spend some time with her that way.  Needless to say, it's a work in progress.  *sigh* I feel like this is a big step that I wasn't quite ready for.

Exhausted But Having Fun.

Working 40+ hours a week, trying to keep up on my housework, spending time with Alexis, fitting a love life with my hubby in and football season coming up??........ = EXHAUSTING!!!!

Now that I'm done being a whiner; we've been doing so amazing.  We have been having a lot of fun at home, doing little chores around the house and getting the yard a little more up to snuff plus great days at the Salon.  It's been a good summer except for the fact that it went by way too quickly.

Both of my friends Allison and Sandra had their baby girls today :) I'm so excited to go see them soon.  It's been such a wonderful summer!

*Oh and Alexis is officially crawling everywhere and walking with some help from Mommy and the sofa, lol.  She is also getting so big!

Ouch.

I dropped a frozen wine bottle on my big toe on my right foot.  Talk about ouch! I'm not 100% sure it's broken but it hurts so bad, still, and is turning bluer and bluer by the hour.  I can still walk on my heel and on the side of my foot.  Grrrrrr.  I think God was telling me to have a diet coke instead, lol.

Super Fun Day!

I had the opportunity to cut my father-in-law's hair yesterday for his 40th Class Reunion, today I did my sister Yesenia's hair before she goes home to St. Anthony, and tonight I am going to cut our friend Greg's hair too.  I'm so fortunate to be able to do the things I love to do and with the people that I care about.  So happy and in a great mood.  Now I have to clean my house.....hmmmmmm....I think the happy, warm, fuzzy feeling is wearing off, lol. ;) *wink wink*

Here are some pictures of my sister's fun new summer hair!

9 Months.

Where is the time going?! My little angel is 9 months old already.  I feel like every month is a new milestone, lol. She's crawling, standing, and will walk from one side of the couch to the other if she's holding on.  The tantrums are getting louder too.  Hahaha.  She's my little sweetheart and I'm so happy to have her :) she's everything to Kort and I.  Of course she's Daddy's little princess and can do no wrong in his eyes, too.

We went to get her 9 month pictures taken.  Here are just a few of the pictures we took.  I'll post the rest when I get them.  She is such a doll! I can't wait to share all the memories we've captured with her as she gets older.

Fun Weekend.

I got a Saturday and Sunday off this month and it was a blast.  We had a BBQ on Saturday and had some friends over.  It was really fun.  We played texas hold'em and ate yummy burgers and drank some brews.  We had good conversation and some not so good but hilarious stuff happen.

Today Kort helped his brother move and Alexis and I went shopping.  I finally was able to buy a couple new pairs of jeans and some new shirts for Kort and some clothes for Alexis.  It makes me so happy to be able to buy things that we need and not have to worry.  Especially since Alexis is getting so big!!

And I got to spend time with Yesenia today which was amazing! What a great weekend!
